This is one of my favorite Riddles! I just hope the answer makes sense to you.
Here it is again...

I guide your words and lights
Your ink and how you think
Your lefts and my rights.
Maps are of me,
While I reveal the map of your face.
I keep you from running off
The road, the stage, the page.
You can remember and store me,
You can walk between or before me, 
You can cross over, but cannot ignore me.
Obey me, and I will transform your state.
Make me obey you, and I will only create.
